Overland Off-Road
Camping Trailer Benefits

Hey guys! this is mike with twain trailers. I just wanted to go over a few key benefits that we have of the trailer. Sorted to show how much effort we put into making this. First things first, we started with an industry standard for off-road trailers at this point, it’s called the lock and roll hitch. You’ve got 180 degrees of swing, you have about 180 degrees of vertical up and down and then you’ve got 360 degrees of twist.

With the construction of the trailer, we use quarter inch thick 2×2 steel tubing in the entire foundation and it’s all welded, it’s not bolted together anywhere on the trailer. I found that every different trailer that I was looking at whenever I was looking at putting a rooftop tent on it, just didn’t have the rigidity to stand up to the forces associated with “what if I have to lock up my brakes” and I’ve got my rooftop tent sitting up on these stilts. What happens when the whole thing flexes and flies forward? I didn’t want my tent collapsing into the back of my jeep. At 60 miles an hour if I had to lock up my brakes, because whatever I welded didn’t stand up. So the way we solved for that, is kind of a two-fold thing. We had to bend this quarter inch thick steel round tubing into these 90 degree corners, this is quarter inch thick steel tubing. This is not lightweight stuff, this is going to hold anybody up in the top of the tent.

Another way we did is we created an additional rigid structure. Not only are the pipes welded in, that are the base pipes to the frame of the trailer, but we also had custom laser cut support welded in on the back side so this is an extremely rigid, extremely stable mounting point for those hoops. Where you don’t have to ever worry about the lateral movement of your tent, whenever it’s up above the trailer. Now we took the hoops off, just sort of show how the trailer can be used as a utility trailer that other 350 days a year that you’re not camping. You can haul pretty much anything you need to, an appliance, small lawn mowers, help a buddy move, anything you want, and even more. So now it’s even a bigger, giant wheelbarrow, super easy to get into place, do what you need to do.

Another benefit of the trailer I love to talk about, is that whenever you’re in a perfect camping spot, perfect camping spots are not level. So what we did, is we welded on these jack mountain points on all four corners of the trailer and you get four jacks with every single trailer. So you can level your trailer in any camping condition that you arrive at. You could be pulling into a campsite that has this much of an angle to it and you’ll still be sleeping level as a family.

This steel here is only here to protect whenever you’re going through woods or heavy boulder fields. This is not steel pipe, this is solid steel, we bend these in a forge into this j shape to protect the fenders to keep your fenders from ever being pushed into your tires and getting a cut tire while out on the trail. A lot of people say why wouldn’t you use your trailer like set your trailer up with an axle-less setup for the suspension. And the reason why I didn’t see the point in that, is I looked directly at the jeep in front of it and realized that my jeep has an axle traveling at the same height, just in front of the trailer on the trail. So I didn’t know why I’d need to spend an extra 400 on an axle-less suspension, for a trailer that’s traveling behind a vehicle that’s got two axles passing over the same trail, directly in front of it. Keeps costs down, this trailer is built for all of us guys who want to get out and camp but don’t want to spend an arm and leg to do it. And not have to take out a second mortgage on our home to have our camper that we take out into the deep woods.

That’s it for now, if you have any other questions or comments or would you like to know any more information, I’d be happy to share with you in a future video. All right, you guys have a great day!
